In May 1 1999 I was elected Dean of the Hebrew University-1 Hadassah School of Dental Medicine. The challenge and the responsibility ahead of me were enormous. I was given the capacity of teading a Faculty undergoing a particular moment - a strong rythm of development, eagerness to i-nove forward in the entire scope of our academic and clinica] activities.
During this term. emphasis was put on the introduction of new technologies~ updatîng and bettering ofteaching rnethods, enhancernent of the research, and the integration of both sectors = basic science researchers and clinicians - tbr applied research iii dentistry.
I would like ta let you know, my dear friend, that a week ago I was honored wiîh the re-election for a second term. This means that i will also be honored to lead the Faculty ‘ot’ Dental Medicine during ils 50~ jubilee celebratians to take place from September 17.- 19 2003. ta which you are most cordially invited as aur very speciaI guest.
My priorilies for t.he next three years are to digitize our X-ray system, 10 complete the infrastructure, to develop new clinical techniques. to open the new Ronald E. Goldstein Research Center for Dental Materials and Esthetics iii Dentistry. vhile implementing in parallel major changes in aur curriculum, and enhancing the research.
